Our Fees

The first thing you need to know is that we are very proud of the positive responses from many of our former clients regarding our fees:

"I couldn't be happier with your hard work, honesty, and professionalism. I was very impressed with your integrity — especially when it came to your fees which ended up being much less than I expected. I recommend your services to any injured federal workers looking for aggressive and truthful representation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you."

J. J. - Louisville, Kentucky

"I just wanted to thank you for your great service. After weeks of researching and contacting (or trying to contact) attorneys locally I switched over to a national search. Most lawyers had the attitude that getting social security disability was a breeze compared to disability retirement. A total of four other lawyers looked over my denial for disability retirement and three contacted me wanting double or triple of what you charged."

J. M. - Zion, Illinois

"I just received my approval for OPM disability. I hired Harris Federal Law Firm to assist me. Grant Ostrander was my case adviser. While you may not need an attorney I found it well worth the price. Grant is very, very good. Helped at every stage, I would recommend him highly."

B. S. - Las Vegas, Nevada

The charges for our representation are dependent upon the type of representation and the complex laws that apply to how a representative can charge for his services.

Fees for Federal Disability Retirement

Requests for federal disability retirement are initially submitted to the Office of Personnel Management where two separate considerations of the request are allowed. We typically charge a "flat" fee for representation at these earlier stages of the assignment.

After the second OPM denial, if a timely request for appeal is made, the matter is transferred to a different adjudicatory body: the Merit Systems Protection Board. If your claim reaches this level, our fees are usually determined by "time billing".

Therefore, the charges for our representation at this level are dependent upon how much time has to be expended and how much work can be responsibly delegated to less expensive, but qualified, personnel.

We will have to evaluate your case to give you our opinion about the likelihood of our success in getting you federal disability retirement.

We offer this evaluation at no charge because we don't want to become involved in the case unless we are confident we can obtain a good result for both the client and our firm.

Fees for Federal Workers Compensation

In representing federal workers in obtaining federal workers compensation, there are various types of assignments that are requested by our customers.

As mentioned in this website, our primary emphasis is in assisting federal workers in obtaining a schedule award. This is our primary focus because schedule awards generate "new" money for the client. This makes it easier for clients to pay us for our services.

Before we can decide exactly how much we are going to charge we have to evaluate the prospective client's claim.

We offer this evaluation at no charge, because we don't want to become involved in the case unless we are confident we can obtain a good result for both the client and our firm.

Sometimes while evaluating a claim, we find that a prospective client would be better served to focus on issues other than a schedule award.

For example:

  1. Sometimes the prospective client's injury does not qualify for a schedule award.
  2. In other instances, the client's claim hasn't been accepted at all - they need help in getting the Office of Workers Compensation (OWCP) to accept the fact that an injury is indeed work-related.
  3. On other occasions the prospective client's need is limited to the issue of getting a medical procedure approved.

Therefore, we cannot definitively state what our fees will be on a case until we have had an opportunity to discuss it at length with you to evaluate your situation.

We can, however, offer you a free objective consideration of your situation and do look forward to hearing from you.
